International competition
The main goal of the project for the competition is to establish a close relationship / integration between two research fields. The first one aims to ensure a strict adherence to the functional program set by the notice of the competition. The second is about the design of an evocative architectural image that allows the system to perform a significant role into urban dynamics, current and future, of the city of Locarno. The moment when these two instances, seemingly antithetical, find their synthesis, is the definition of an architectural and urban planning that finds its "raison d’etre" in the investigation of the meaning of public space. Searching for a system that synergistically investigates the formal, typological, and technological solutions – that make the site enhanced as a space constantly accessible from the city and its inhabitants – has imposed to direct the choices towards a possible “integrity of form” which embodied the aim of the project.
